PERNIX User Guide

PERNIX is the advanced email protection solution from cyber security experts Corvid. PERNIX identifies and nullifies email based attacks before they reach your inbox whilst also protecting you from email based fraud and scams, so you can be confident that all emails you receive are safe and free from infection.

The PERNIX banner

The PERNIX banner appears on every email you receive. A simple traffic light (Red / Amber / Green) rating system is used to help you understand the nature of each email quickly and easily. Find out more below:



Red PERNIX banner

The red PERNIX banner indicates that you've received an email that PERNIX has deemed contains malicious or potentially dangerous content, and has quarantined it for your safety. Don't worry, your computer and files are safe, and you haven't been infected.

On the red banner you’ll see one or more warning messages explaining the issue(s). If you're unsure of what each warning means, you'll find further information below, as well as recommended next steps.

Next steps

PERNIX has protected you and your files from any issues. However, if you think the email is from a safe and genuine source, you can access it and request its release via the PERNIX Email Manager control.

Amber PERNIX banner

The amber PERNIX banner indicates that you've received an email that PERNIX has deemed is safe, but potentially has some areas of concern. Don't worry, your computer and files are safe.

On the amber banner you’ll see one or more warning messages explaining the issue(s). If you're unsure of what each warning means, you'll find further information below, as well as recommended next steps.

If you are unsure about any of the warning messages shown on the PERNIX Banner, please speak to your IT department.

You can review all your received and sent emails in the PERNIX Email Manager.

Green PERNIX banner

The majority of emails you receive will display the green PERNIX Banner. This shows that PERNIX has scanned the email for any potential issues and it appears to be legitimate.

View email info

Clicking on the 'View email info' link provides an in-depth analysis of your email, including routing data and map, and detailed explanations of any issues identified.

Reporting emails as suspicious

If you receive an email that you think may include suspicious content please click on the ‘Report as suspicious’ link to email us. Include any details to help us investigate the issue.

The new PERNIX Email Manager

Accessing the Email Manager

The PERNIX Email manager is a website where you can manage your PERNIX protected emails. The site is accessed via a one-time access token link. As a result, there is no requirement for you to remember a username or password. To generate an access token link, click on the ‘View all emails’ link on the PERNIX Banner or visit https://pernixconsole.corvid.it/genotl. Enter your email address in the box provided and click on ‘Request Link’

You will receive a PERNIX one time access link in an email with the subject ‘Pernix – Manage Your Email’. Click on the button to access the Pernix Email Manager:

The one time access link provides you with 15 minutes of access to the PERNIX console. If your session times out and you require additional time to manage your email, simply generate another access token by clicking the ‘View all emails’ link on a PERNIX Banner.



Your emails

Reviewing emails

View your PERNIX protected emails via the ‘Your Emails’ tab. Here you can see received, sent and blocked emails. By default, PERNIX displays the emails received from the last 30 days. Use the calendar function at the top of the emails list to select a date range.

Click on an email to view its content and get a thorough diagnosis of your email including routing data and details of any issues.

Resending emails

To resend an email to your inbox, locate the email and click on the ‘Resend’ button. Confirm if you want to resend the email in the modal window. The email will then be resent to your inbox within a few minutes.

Releasing blocked emails

As a user you have the facility to release any blocked spam emails.

  • Click on the Blocked tab. This will display any emails you’ve received, but have been blocked by PERNIX
  • Clicking on the ‘Release’ icon will release the quarantined email to your inbox. If you are unsure about the security of the email please contact your IT department
  • If no ‘Release’ icon is visible then please contact your IT department. They will securely review the email and release it if deemed safe.

Document Passwords

PERNIX scans any documents attached to emails for malicious or dangerous content. Password-protected files such as encrypted zips or office documents are unable to be scanned by default and may be blocked. To ensure these documents pass PERNIX tests, add their passwords here.

PERNIX administrators cannot view passwords or gain access to the documents, so your privacy is assured.
